due west from the lookout.

in a swale. | |
| |
The junction for a short, 4km, detour to well 47. The seismic (shot) line we will follow due south. |
|
| |
Another derelict well. A few remnants.
| |
Somehow at least one bucket has survived at each well.
| |
Seismic lines are straight. They don't care where the best
place, or line, to cross dunes is. The word disregards the spelling rule about "i before e". |
|
| |
Only 10km of relatively small dunes.
| |
With varying swales. | |
| |
Occasionally trees and bushes.
| |
An Oka conference. Of course we stopped for a chat. |
|
| |
On our way again. | |
| |
To well 46, Kuduarra.
|
|
| |
The cable winch is anchored to an old ute tray. Which makes lifting the bucket out very awkward.
| |
A few directions to well 45, Jintijinti. The track meanders a bit around and over dunes. |
|
| |
For about 5 minutes we followed the bustard as it sauntered along the track, head in the air.
| |
But eventually we got a bit close and it flew off. Now we can travel at 20-25km/hr instead of bustard walking pace. |
|
| |
Where have all the trees and bushes gone. We have tufts of grass. The spinifex (which is also a grass) is somewhere else. |

We stop for the night. Admire the flowers. Talk to the neighbours - a couple of nurses from Townsville.
