| Westmorland Falls | March 4 - 6 | |
| |
We've long tried to slow down our travels, to spend more
time stopped than moving, to enjoy the surrounds. We are beginning to succeed. Perhaps because the places we stop at are more inviting than simply overnight stops. We leave "the Vale" with a bit of regret, we've spent 5 nights there. |
|
| |
In among the cloudy days there was even a hint of a sunset.
| |
We have an appointment with workshop in a couple of days.
Put a patch on the hole in exhaust. Before that we head to Mole Creek and Honeycombe Campsite. We encounter the Great Western Tiers. |
|
| |
But before that, The Gog Range. A short range between the
tiers and the coast. The Meander Valley between the range and the tiers. |
|
| |
Perhaps Mt Roland. | |
| |
And the view from the Mt Roland lookout.
| |
We keep discovering more tracks to walk. These are in the
Gog Range. Some hard, some moderate. |
|
| |
Up and over. | |
| |
We descend into the valley. Back to agriculture. Back to hay bales. |
|
| |
Down to the valley floor. Not far to Mole Creek. |
|
| |
South of Mole Creek is the track to Westmorland Falls.
| |
We do like "big trees". | |
| |
Perhaps stringy bark. | |
| |
3.5km round trip to the falls. A cascade over sandstone (we think). |
|
| |
Honeycombe campsite. Looking south at the Great Western
Tiers. Tiers I guess because behind them is the central plateau. |
|
| |
Changing with the light, and cloud.
| |
We have names for each of the high points.
| |
There are some walking tracks up the tiers.
| |
The pointy bit is Mother Cummings Peak. There's a track to the top, but we are feeling lazy. |
|
| |
Before departing for the coast we have a brief look at Honeycomb Cave.
| |
This from the opposite end. We didn't walk through.
| |
We could have. | |
| |
Fairly dirty stalactites.
